Conservation Works is launching a tree giveaway to promote urban greening in the City of Fort Bragg and make a lasting impact on the health of residents and the local ecology.

Conservation Works is excited to launch our very first tree giveaway program in the city of Fort Bragg. This pilot project is designed to provide residents with free trees that will contribute to the expansion of Fort Bragg’s urban tree canopy and create a greener, healthier community.
Urban trees provide many benefits — they improve air quality, help cool neighborhoods, support climate resilience, and add natural beauty to the places we live, work, and gather.
Interested in receiving a FREE TREE?
Step 1: Check your Eligibility: Start by using our Free Tree Eligibility Map to see if your address falls within the priority zone.
Step 2: Consider your personal commitment. Can you:
1) Maintain and monitor the health of your tree for at least 3 years
2) Water your tree regularly
3) Properly prune tree when needed

Priority will be given to those within the priority zone, but your application will be considered depending on availability.

Renters can certainly apply! We will request written consent from the homeowner before providing or planting the tree.

We provide the tree and any supporting materials required to plant it, such as stakes, mulch or weed mats. You will be responsible for watering the tree, which is an additional cost depending on your water supply.
Additionally, your tree will require pruning. We do not offer pruning services.

We will be providing 15 gallon trees.

Our team will assist you in planting your tree unless you opt out and want to plant it yourself.

We will not replace your tree if it dies. By applying for a free tree, you are committing to maintaining the health of your tree for at least 3 years or until it’s established.
This includes watering and pruning.

In the application, you will select your top two trees from a list of seven. We will do our best to provide you with a tree you selected.

Yes. Our team will check in with the resident quarterly for the first year.

We will be passing out trees on the 2nd and 3rd weekend of October. This is subject to change.
