Grants Management Specialist

Conservation Works is seeking an experienced Grants Management Specialist to join our team and help lead a growing portfolio of collaborative conservation programs across Northern California.
This position will play a significant leadership role in our regional forest health and wildfire resilience work, including managing more than $11 million in current state and federal conservation funding. The Grants Management Specialist will coordinate complex grants and partnerships that bring critical funding and technical assistance to private forest landowners across the region.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people, funding, and projects together. You’ll work closely with Resource Conservation Districts, public agencies, foresters, landowners, contractors, and other conservation partners to keep complex regional programs moving from funding through implementation.
As part of a small, collaborative nonprofit team, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to other Conservation Works programs, emerging projects, fund development, and organizational priorities.
What You'll Work On
The primary focus of this position will be leading the grant management and coordination of two of Conservation Works’ largest regional forest health and wildfire resilience initiatives:
North Bay Forest Improvement Program (NBFIP)
A collaborative, four-county, five-partner initiative investing nearly $6 million in forest health projects across Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
USDA NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP)
More than $5.2 million in regional funding across seven North Bay counties helping private landowners implement technical and financial solutions for wildfire resilience.
The Grants Management Specialist will coordinate grant deliverables across multiple partner organizations, oversee contracts, budgets, reporting and compliance, and build strong working relationships with RCDs, public agencies, Registered Professional Foresters, archaeologists, landowners, and other partners.
In addition to this primary focus, the Grants Management Specialist will contribute to other Conservation Works programs and organizational priorities as capacity allows. This may include supporting fund development for emerging projects, strengthening organizational systems, contributing to strategic planning, and working with the Executive Director and staff to support the long-term sustainability of Conservation Works.
Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, collaborative, comfortable managing complex grants and budgets, and able to keep multiple partners, priorities, and deadlines moving forward.
Qualified candidates should have at least three years of progressive experience managing state, federal, or foundation grants and demonstrated high-level project management experience. Experience with CAL FIRE, USDA NRCS, or highly collaborative grant programs is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range is $38–$48/hour ($79,040–$99,840 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Conservation Works contributes toward employee health insurance premiums and offers dental and vision insurance, paid time off, a flexible hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of one day per week in the Windsor office, and participation in the California CalSavers retirement savings program.
