Creek Care starts at Home

Everyone lives in a watershed.

That means that every one of us can have a direct impact on our local creeks. Below are some common urban pollutants, and what we can do to help keep them out of creeks. Though they may be mundane, by preventing or minimizing these impacts we can help our creeks (and our planet) be healthier.

Pollutions

Do you see this kind pollution where you live? Are there actions you can take to prevent or minimize these types of point pollution?

  • Litter/trash/dumping - unsightly, and can be dangerous for wildlife

  • pet waste - pet waste can lead to high bacterial loads in waterways, which can threaten wildlife AND human health

  • pesticides/herbicides - these chemicals which kill pests can wash into creeks and harm life beyond targeted pests.

  • fertilizers

  • washing cars on the road (drains to creek)

Build it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
